Chris Laurence Vet of the Year
Richard Edwards AlphaPet Veterinary Clinic, Bognor Regis
Nominated by Jaine Wild
“As a main partner in AlphaPet Veterinary Clinic, Richard has been the leading light in helping local animal and wildlife rescue and has encouraged other members of staff to do the same. Richard is involved in the Badger Trust, helping to rescue and carry out post mortems. He is also involved in marine life and wildlife rescue and campaigns against puppy farming. Richard has changed the face of vet clinics in West Sussex to the appreciation of many animal welfare charities.”

Rachel Wright The Tree of Life for Animals, India/Peterborough
Nominated by Kym Barratt
“Originally from the UK, Rachel set up her Charity ‘The Tree of Life for Animals’ (TOFLA) in India in 2006. Since then she has been working seven days a week living on the site with her husband and daughter. TOFLA has sterilised over 12,000 dogs. Every animal is treated with very special care, individual attention and the highest standards of compassion; TOFLA has a 'no euthanasia' policy for animals that have the capacity for a happy healthy life. Not only does Rachel dedicate her life to her charity, but to manage her finances she comes back to the UK to carry out locum work. Rachel’s compassion, strength and determination has inspired everyone who has volunteered for her.”
